History

It started when Hilvie Lundeen Mossburg thought it would be nice to have all the relatives together and have a picnic for her husband Arthur Mossburg and his twin brother Victor Mossburg on their 50th birthday. That first picnic was on August 11, 1934 at the park in Neligh, Nebraska. That would be center for everyone and everyone came too.

Attendance:
Hilvie and Arthur Mossburg. His twin brother Victor. Their brothers Axel, Oscar, and Gustav with his wife Mary.
Mr. Enfred Lundeen & family.
Erick and Hulda Lundeen and daughter Louise, and Anna Nelson & family.
Mr. and Mrs. Anton Johnson & family.
Mr. Fred Carlson & family.
Mr. and Mrs. Gust Carlson & family.

The cars were a little slower then but everyone got there. There was plenty of good eats with plenty of hot coffee. The drinking water was a little cooler than the coffee; there was no cold drinks and ice at the time. In the afternoon before everyone went home there was more eats. Everyone thought it was fun and had a good time, so it was decided to have the picnic every year.

Some years the picnic was held at Johnson park in Norfolk, and at Ta-Ha-zuk-ha park south of Norfolk, also at Madison, Humphrey, Fremont, Columbus and at Albion.
